Jean Thompson

Owner and CEO
Seattle Chocolate Company

Thompson was a longtime chocolate lover and investor in Seattle Chocolates (now celebrating its 25th year) before officially taking the helm in 2002.  Within weeks of joining the company, Jean noticed that the chocolate industry didn’t seem to understand women’s passion for chocolate. Jean graduated from Bates College before embarking on a career in high tech, cutting her teeth at Microsoft. Between software and chocolate, Jean was active raising two fabulous kids in the Bellevue school district and devoting her free time to non-profit work. She has been recognized as one of the leading “Women of Influence” by Puget Sound Business Journal and named one of 2015’s “Most Enterprising Women of the Year.” Under her leadership, Seattle Chocolate was named Seattle Business’s 2015 “Washington Manufacturer of the Year.” Jean is passionate about furthering the chocolate industry as a whole, encouraging young women to enter the executive field, and fighting hunger in America by giving back to local communities.
